Why should you report to Pharmacovigilance?
The Reporting Form lies at the heart of the Pharmacovigilance system, where information gathering relies on local reports. The importance of reporting is essential for the proper functioning of the pharmacovigilance system in Albania. You can either download and complete the form for submission to AKBPM or fill it out electronically. In case of multiple reports concerning the same incident, an alert is triggered, signaling the commencement of pharmacovigilance system activities. A substantial volume of reports plays a pivotal role in Albania's full integration into the World Health Organization's Programme for International Drug Monitoring (WHO-PIDM).
What to report?
Report any side effect or health concern that occurs to you and that you suspect may have arisen from the medication you are taking. If you check for the side effect and find that it is listed in the leaflet, you should still report it.
Find the following definitions of adverse effects:
An adverse effect is an unintended or harmful response of the body during the administration of a drug under normal conditions of use.
A serious adverse effect is any adverse effect resulting in death, being life-threatening, requiring hospitalization of the patient or prolongation of hospitalization, resulting in persistent or significant disability or incapacity, or being a congenital anomaly or birth defect.
An unexpected adverse reaction is any adverse effect whose nature, severity, or outcome is not consistent with the summary of product characteristics.
